I’ve been seeing lots of great Christmas Sweater nails around the internet and instagram. So, now it’s my turn!
In addition to nails, I’m also enjoy other crafts: crochet, (learning to) knit, rubberstamping and card making.
I have a Silhouette Cameo that I got this summer and I’ve really enjoyed making vinyl decals and other die cuts. I came across these nail stencils in the Silhouette store by Rivka Wilkins and I knew I had to have them. They would make perfect Christmas Sweater nails!
This mani started out with Zoya Ziv and Logan from the Ornate Collection. I left it this way for a full day before starting the second part. Here’s just the base polishes…
Seriously, I couldn’t stop looking at my nails! The gold Ziv is amazingly deep and the green Logan does have a blue shift in certain lights. I could have left my nails just like this!
The next step was to apply one of the stencils. Look at how adorable all those cross-stitches are!! Then I applied Zoya Isla on top and removed the stencil.
Next came the main design in the set. Such a cute reindeer! I used Milani Rapid Speed White on the Spot for the rest of the stencil designs.
This just made me giggle. I quick coat of Seche Vite top coat and I was ready for the next nail. Something I learned during all of this…Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri top coat *will* smear your designs. Don’t use it to top coat a nail art design! Not good!
But this, this is good.
And the full mani:
I tried to make the stencils with painters tape and this design was just too intricate. I ended up using my regular vinyl. Rivka as several other designs that I can’t wait to try!
Is this something you would try?
